After the wedding, Nanay took the knowledge she had gained from her work with her brother’s bookstore and the couple opened their very first store—a small shop at the foot of the Escolta Bridge. WebbNational Bookstore has a long-standing history which dates back in the 1940s. At exactly 1942, Jose and Socorro Ramos-the founding owners of National Bookstore, established a small stall in Escolta. However, it was soon burnt during the Japanese occupation and was later reopened at Avenida, Rizal.
